How do we let go of pain and suffering caused by past experiences?
This month is the month my father passed away as well as his birthday.
That brings up so many emotions. He passed away suddenly, which makes letting go harder.
It’s been nearly 15 years now, and I’m still learning to let go.
The good memories and lessons remain in my mind, but I’m learning to let go of the pain. As well as understanding that he is always with me. As The Alchemist said, he has become part of the soul of the Universe, and he goes everywhere with me now.
6 RITUALS FOR LETTING GO OF THE PAST
The past holds a lot of meaning for us for a variety of reasons. Having a need for certainty can explain why many of us get stuck in the past. Moving forward involves letting go of the past. We must have the courage to let go of what we know and be brave enough to embrace and learn from what lies ahead.
Letting go is an essential part of growing. This can be seen in nature as well, from trees shedding their leaves to snakes shedding their skin as they grow older. A caterpillar abandons its entire body to emerge as a butterfly.
HOW CAN RITUALS HELP YOU TO LET GO?
As a first step, you must acknowledge; what is holding you back? When you realize this, performing simple rituals is a great way to let go of the past and move forward.
1- MEDITATION FOR LETTING GO OF THE PAST
Meditation has been used for centuries to calm the mind and improve concentration and is an excellent way to rid yourself of negative feelings from the past.
By adding simple mantras to your meditations, you can enhance the benefits.

My past does not define me.
I feel lighter and happier.
I’m deeply relaxed. I’ll let it all go.
Everything happens for my highest good.
Out of this, only good will come.
2- SMUDGING RITUAL FOR LETTING GO
For centuries, the practice of smudging has been used to cleanse negative energies from our homes and bring peace and harmony.
I love using white sage in this ritual due to its powerful purifying properties. It has also been found that white sage can also remove 94% of bacteria from a room for 24-48 hours when burned, so it is an excellent herb for cleaning your home after being sick.
When you smudge, make sure you state your intentions. First, open a few windows in your home. Then simply light a bundle of white sage and visualize your worries and negative thoughts being carried away by the smoke.
3- USE CRYSTALS TO LET GO
There are many unique properties of crystals that can help you let go of past negative feelings. Some of my favorite crystals are Rose quartz because it’s the crystal of unconditional love and is renowned for its powerful healing properties. Citrine is a wonderful crystal to raise your self-esteem and build your confidence after letting go or after a difficult period.
4- PRACTICING GRATITUDE
Gratitude can also help you live in the present, rather than in the past.
Start a gratitude journal or practice it during your morning meditation. Think about all that you have to be grateful for in your current life. Realize that everything that happened to you in the past is what made you the person you are now: a strong, powerful person who can bounce back from anything. When you love yourself and your life, it’s easier to let go of the past for good.
5 – SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE ENERGY
What separates those who achieve their goals from those who don’t? It isn’t time or skills – it’s knowing how to use the law of attraction to get what they want. The energy you put out into the world is what you get back. And the energy you surround yourself with is the energy you become. So surround yourself with positive and happy energy. Go outside and smell the flowers, spend time with people that make you happy, and spend time doing things that you enjoy.
6. GIVE BACK
Finally, find something you want to serve that is greater than yourself as you learn to let go of the past. Contribute to your family, your community, or the planet by helping it to be a better place.
Having something to share isn’t just about money; you can share anything – from a kind smile to a listening ear. The moment you realize the secret to living is giving, your life will change dramatically, and you will be able to move on from the past.
