The element water is super crucial for life. We, as human beings, are made of 60% water, so we should all be considering how to embrace the element of water more. The element water and what it means for you may not be something that takes a lot of space in your thoughts, but it should.

When we reflect on what water means, we reflect on what it means to nurture our emotions, intuition, and creativity. Water is the nutrition of life. From an astrological perspective, by dissecting what it means and how to better use it, you are further exploring how to nurture a deeper subconscious side of yourself.


When thinking about the element of water and what it means for you, we want to always remember at the core of it, water sign energy is all about intuition, deep feelings, our sense of security and secrets, spirituality, and instincts. The three water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) embody these qualities differently. Cancer expresses these qualities through nurturing – nurturing the self and nurturing others. Scorpio says these qualities through introspection and transformation – being able to connect deeper to find the truest self. Pisces expresses qualifies through dreams and aspirations – being able to look at the world through a rose-colored lens. 

To be more like each of these signs something we need to remind ourselves is that we have to create space to allow ourselves to nurture, allow ourselves to introspect, and allow ourselves to dream. The water signs – however – can be hard themselves because of the conditioning that sensitivity or the need to be alone is a sign of weakness. Something to remind yourself when considering the element of water is how can I allow myself to become more comfortable with the ebbs and flows of life?

  • Take a long shower
  • Go for a swim
  • Anything that lets you PHYSICALLY connect with water.

Shocking I know haha, but through these actions give yourself the opportunity to reflect on the following thoughts: 

  • Am I dealing with my sensitivity and emotions in a healthy way?
  • Do I feel as though I have enough opportunity to be validating in my emotional expression? 
  • Is there enough time for me to be still and at peace with my subconscious? 
  • Do I trust my intuition as something to help guide me toward what I need?

Ultimately, the message with water is to be able to find ways to connect with your emotional core and to find trust in your subconscious. Being comfortable with understanding the deeper complexity of yourself and your emotions. By tapping into the water you are tapping into the core essence of yourself.
